Non - Namibian's are by law not allowed to buy farming land in Namibia.
Should a Farm owner wish to sell, he must first apply for a "waiver" from the Government. The Government then has approximatley 102 days to decide if they wish to purchase the farm at a price they decide on and the farmer has to accept. Should the Government decide not to purchase the farm, a "waiver" is issued, allowing the farm to be sold on the open market at a market related price. This makes farmers hesitant to offer / sell their farms.
The average price per hectare at the moment is anything between N$ 800 to N$ 1,200 a hectare.
Owning Farming Land in Namibia is a different story, as long as the land is not owned outright by a non - Namibian, but in conjunction with a Namibian partner (the Namibian partner has to own at least 51% shares of the farm) there are ways and means for non - Namibian's to become farm owners in Namibia.
It seems there are also other ways and means of bypassing the laws purtaining to foreign land ownership in Namibia, however these are best discussed with an Attorney.
Please note that we do not sell farms. |
